1. Chaman Arora (Sahitya Akademi Award 2024):

  • He was awarded the Sahitya Akademi Award 2024 in Dogri for his book “Ik Hor Ashwthama.”
  • Every year since its inception in 1954, the Sahitya Akademi Award prizes to the most outstanding books of literary merit published in any of the major Indian languages recognised by the Akademi.
  • Head Office of Sahitya Akademi: - New Delhi.
  • In addition to 22 languages recognized under the 8th Schedule of the constitution, Sahitya Akademi recognizes Rajasthani and English.

2. Aga Khan IV & Prince Rahim Al-Hussaini: 

  • Rahim Al-Hussaini was named Wednesday as the new Aga Khan, spiritual leader of the world’s millions of Ismaili Muslims, following the death of his father.
  • The 53-year-old was designated as the Aga Khan V, the 50th hereditary imam of the Ismaili Muslims, in his father’s will. 
  • His father the Aga Khan IV and 49th hereditary imam of the Shiite Ismaili Muslims, died surrounded by his family in Portugal.
  • Prince Rahim is the eldest son of the former Aga Khan.
  • Aga Khan was given the title of “His Highness” by Queen Elizabeth in July 1957.

3. Philemon Yang (UNGA Prez met Indian Prez): 

  • Recently, the President of the 79th Session of the UN General Assembly (PGA), H.E. Mr. Philemon Yang visited India from 4 – 7 February 2025. 
  • Mr Yang previously served as the Prime Minister of Cameroon.
  • Under his Presidency, the United Nations adopted "A Pact for the Future”, a vision document for realising "multilateral solutions for a better tomorrow.”

4. Sanjay Malhotra (RBI Governor): 

  • A 1990-batch IAS officer of Rajasthan cadre, he is a computer science engineering graduate from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur.
  • He was appointed as the Governor of the Reserve Bank of India on December 11, 2024, for a period of three years.
  • At the time of appointment, Malhotra was serving as the Revenue Secretary in the Government of India. 
  • He devised plans to widen the tax net that helped in the higher formalisation of the Indian economy.
